Today is the 2nd Friday of the month, which means only one thing to me - free wine, free beer and free art. And I finally had the chance to go the Hearne Art Gallery for the first time (it's very difficult to make it to all of the galleries in one night) and we met the feature artist of the month. Kewl! It was great to see so many people out at 2nd Friday Art Night and I met quite a few out-of-towners that were very excited that LR hosted such an event.

After 2nd Friday, we ventured over to Gaucho's Grill (or carnivore's heaven), which again was another first for me. We both had the Brazilian Bar-B-Q, which consists of all-you-can-eat-meat. Chicken, pork, steak, turkey, and lamb - carved right at your table, anyway you like, and as much of it as you can take. A first, but definitely not a last.

I have resolved in my spirit that I may never run a 5K under 30 minutes. It just may be physically impossible for me. So in lieu of that goal, I'm now determined to score at least 200 in bowling. And I have been working hard at that this week (well, actually my first attempt was a drunken one so that didn't count). Today I bowled my personal highest score, 169. And I bowled my first turkey since January. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

A pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. The pastor was so
pleased with the donkey that he entered it in another race and it won
again. The local paper read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.

The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered
the pastor not to enter the donkey in any more races. The next day
the local paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES THE PASTOR'S ASS.
This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid
of the donkey. The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby
convent.

The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline:
NUN HAS THE BEST ASS IN TOWN. The Bishop fainted. He informed the nun
that she would have to get rid of the donkey so she sold it to a
farmer for $10. The next day the headlines read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.
This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the nun to buy back the
donkey and lead it to the high plains where it could run free. The next
day the headlines read: NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE. Alas ....
the Bishop was buried the next day.

MORAL OF THE STORY???

Being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery
and even shorten your life. So, be yourself and enjoy life. Stop worrying
about everyone else's ass and you'll live longer.

I remember my activities on September 11, 2001 very well. Ironic, sense I can't recall what I did this past weekend. As with any other day, I'd woke up and prepared to go to work. But, for some reason I was going in a lot later. While getting dressed I watched the Today Show (just as I still do today). Normal programming was interrupted as Katie (Couric) announced "that a small plane had just hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center." What a horrible accident, I first thought. Then reality quickly came as a second plane struck the South Tower. My then-husband jumped up and down and rejoiced exclaiming "them boys done come over here to handle they business." (He's as evil now as he was then and I'll say no more about him).

I then left for work, but of course no work was completed on that day. I, like the rest of my colleagues, stayed glued to the TV watching with horror the day's events.

For the next weeks, I was terrified. Thinking of all those people, who'd did just what I did that very day and every day; they woke up and went to work. Yet they didn't return home.

Today (and everyday), my thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost someone they knew and loved. May your blessings be greater than your sacrifice.
